I first picked up a camera when I was ten years old. My dad had purchased it as a Christmas gift, hoping for a partner in crime for his early morning photography excursions. Our first shoot was on a foggy, Saturday morning, the sun barely risen. I was fascinated, watching my dad line up his shots, squatting at precarious angles, kneeling in mud and wet grass, capturing a variety of view points, near and far. Dew covered fields, a misty shoreline, a lone steer eating green grass. Our next trip was Balloon Day, the gathering of dozens of hot air balloon enthusiasts and their gear for a collective launch off the brittle late fall grass of a large, expansive public lawn. I still have a picture of my dad helping carry one of the groups' baskets to set up for liftoff. My dad, young and strong, lit up in my flash. And I have been taking photographs ever since. Landscapes and nature, from New England, to the foothills of the Virginia mountains. Cow pastures, rolled bales of hay, sparkling streams, boats moored in marinas and golden lit sails by a rising sun. I welcome you to look through my portfolio, either specific categories of interest, or the entire collection, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
